“When should I go?”

Well, the answer is simple, it depends on where you want to go and what kind of weather you like! Don’t worry, we’ll break it down in a fun and easy way so you can choose the perfect time for your adventure.

Vietnam’s Weather in a Nutshell

Vietnam is a long country, kind of shaped like the letter “S”. So, the weather isn’t the same everywhere at the same time! It’s divided into three parts: North, Central, and South and each has its own seasons.

There are two main seasons:

Dry Season: Less rain, more sunshine.

Rainy Season: More rain, but still warm!

Best Time to Visit Northern Vietnam

(Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Long Bay)

Go between: October to April
This is the best time for cool weather, blue skies, and fresh mountain air.

October to December – It’s autumn! Think golden trees and cozy weather.

March to April – Spring arrives, flowers bloom, and the hills are green.

Tip: From May to August, it can get hot and rainy, not the best for hiking or boat rides.

Best Time to Visit Central Vietnam

(Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue)

Go between: February to August
Want sunshine and beach days? This is your time!

March to May – Great for sightseeing and walking around old towns.

Go between: November to April
This is when the south is sunny, warm, and full of life.

December to February – It’s cooler and great for exploring.

March to April – Still sunny, but starts getting hotter.

Heads up: From May to October, you’ll see more rain, but it usually comes and goes quickly!

If you want to save money and don’t mind a little rain, try visiting in May or September. Hotels and flights are often cheaper, and it’s less crowded too!

Want to See Festivals?

Vietnam has some amazing festivals. Here are a few cool ones:

Tết (Vietnamese New Year) – Happening in January or February, it’s the biggest and most colorful celebration!
